Danny Salim is the Senior Director of the Anti-Violence Program at the Arab-American Family Support Center (AAFSC) where he has served New York City鈥檚 diverse communities since 2013. A graduate from 黑料正能量 with a Master鈥檚 in Conflict Transformation, Mr. Salim has vast experience in trauma healing and resilience, healing circle processes, women and youth empowerment, human rights, and culturally sensitive programming. He is passionate about examining sociopolitical experiences/systems and fostering community development policy practice with a trauma-informed framework.
In his current role,Mr. Salim oversees AAFSC鈥檚 Anti-Violence Program,which serves immigrant communities throughout New York City through culturally responsive direct services and advocacy in partnership with the Mayor鈥檚 Office to End Domestic and Gender Based Violence – Family Justice Centers,while confronting cultural issues, including gender narratives, intimate partner violence and sexual assault.
Prior to joining AAFSC, Mr. Salim worked at several national and international organizations including Non-Violent Peace-Force and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). In 2009, he was awarded the Fulbright scholarship, and received the UConn &UNESCO Chair and Institute of Comparative Human Rights Award for Best Winning Article: 鈥淭he Unintended Consequences of Comprehensive Economic Sanctions: What is the Alternative?鈥� in 2011.
