href=\"https:\/\/emu.contentdm.oclc.org\/digital\/collection\/p16154coll6\/id\/10165\/rec\/20\">recounts<\/a> his experiences arriving by ship in New York, traveling through Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C.\u2014where \u201cthere are more cars on the streets than pedestrians\u201d\u2014and settling into campus life at Eastern Mennonite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI enjoy my study, campus life, and also the food, which is not too different from that at home,\u201d he writes. \u201cI am thankful and glad to be <em>Crossroads<\/em> archive<\/a>, \u201cstudents and faculty built a barn-looking wooden \u2018exercise hall\u2019 in 1926.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cA twister felled it four years later,\u201d the story continues. \u201cIts replacement in 1930 was a cinder block building about 2\/3 the size of a regular gym, with no space for spectators.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
