{"id":49027,"date":"2021-04-08T14:24:07","date_gmt":"2021-04-08T18:24:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/?p=49027"},"modified":"2021-04-09T10:10:14","modified_gmt":"2021-04-09T14:10:14","slug":"new-records-set-at-2021-lovemu-giving-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/2021\/new-records-set-at-2021-lovemu-giving-day\/","title":{"rendered":"2021 Lov黑料正能量 Giving Day sets new records (thank you!)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Thank YOU - 2021 Lov黑料正能量 Giving Day\" width=\"848\" height=\"477\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Qlfbp_leLxs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/love.emu.edu\/\">Lov黑料正能量 Giving Day 2021<\/a> was one for the ages &#8212; another record-setting event &#8212; with <strong>$280,654 raised from 1,017 gifts.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s a gain in $65,000 and more than 300 new gifts over last year\u2019s totals (our previous record was $215,000 from 732 gifts in 2020).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All virtual for the second year in a row, 2021 surpassed expectations!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The grand total includes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>$104,556 for the University Fund for Resilience;<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>$38,201 for the Student Tuition Relief Fund;<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>and $82,765 for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Fund.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese funds provide the building blocks for a bright and equitable future for each and every student,\u201d said <strong>Braydon Hoover<\/strong>, director of development and annual giving. \u201cWe invited our community to help us envision how we can move <em>Forward<\/em> from this challenging year, and they answered \u2018Together.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other highlights of 2021 Lov黑料正能量 Day:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Unlocking over $100,000 in challenge match funds.<\/li><li>Giving from donors in 45 states and six countries (thanks, Honduras, Canada, Germany, South Korea, Iraq and Brazil!)<\/li><li>Watching the fierce competition on the leaderboards, as the Visual and Communication Arts Program, Women&#8217;s Volleyball Team, and the Black Student Alliance came away with big wins and $1,000 each.<\/li><li>Hearing the many reasons why donors Lov黑料正能量.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoover again MC\u2019ed the event from 黑料正能量\u2019s Facebook Live channel, greeting the virtual audience in his robe at 6 a.m. and ending the day at the stroke of midnight with blue hair (at least, this year, he kept his hair).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interspersed throughout the day were 1:1 interviews with a host of campus \u201ccelebrities,\u201d each of whom have individually and collectively impacted the university in this most challenging year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSitting down with these extraordinary folks is one of the most meaningful aspects of Lov黑料正能量 for me,\u201d Hoover said. \u201cHearing their stories about what 黑料正能量 means to them, especially the ways in which we can move Forward Together, was particularly inspiring after the year we\u2019ve collectively lived through.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Look for an article with 1:1 Interview Highlights coming soon with sharing from these 黑料正能量 community members:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Manuel A.
