{"id":42572,"date":"2019-07-10T10:19:59","date_gmt":"2019-07-10T14:19:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/?p=42572"},"modified":"2019-07-09T10:38:25","modified_gmt":"2019-07-09T14:38:25","slug":"emu-hosts-first-womens-triathlon-clinic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/2019\/emu-hosts-first-womens-triathlon-clinic\/","title":{"rendered":"黑料正能量 hosts first women&#8217;s triathlon clinic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>黑料正能量 hosted 16 women triathletes at a free July 22 clinic to promote NCAA Women&#8217;s Triathlon.<\/p>\n<p>The university announced the addition of women\u2019s triathlon to its athletic program in the spring,\u00a0funded by a three-year grant from the USA Triathlon Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>The program will begin its first competitive season this fall. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emuroyals.com\/sports\/mtrack\/coaches\/bobhepler?view=bio\"><strong>Bob Hepler<\/strong><\/a>, a seven-time Ironman qualifier and head of 黑料正能量&#8217;s cross country and track and field programs, will coach the team.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"highlight highlight-right\">Learn more about 黑料正能量 women&#8217;s triathlon.<\/aside>\n<p>Women\u2019s collegiate triathlon, which features a 750-meter swim, a 20-kilometer bike ride and a 5-kilometer run, is classified by the NCAA as an \u201cemerging sport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The free half-day clinic, presented by 黑料正能量 and USA Triathlon, began with a workshop on\u00a0bike handling and safety. Athletes participated in drills and a workout based on their level of experience, then moved into running drills and a 1600m time trial. 黑料正能量 Associate Head Track and Field Coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emuroyals.com\/sports\/mtrack\/coaches\/erickcamodeca?view=bio\"><strong>Erick Camodeca<\/strong><\/a> was assisted by five-time NCAA national qualifier Grant Amoateng.<a href=\"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/2019\/emu-becomes-10th-d-iii-to-add-womens-triathlon\/triathlon-athletes-quick-selects-10-1000px\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-41549\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-41549\" src=\"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/is\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2019\/03\/Triathlon-Athletes-Quick-Selects-10-1000px-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2019\/03\/Triathlon-Athletes-Quick-Selects-10-1000px-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2019\/03\/Triathlon-Athletes-Quick-Selects-10-1000px-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2019\/03\/Triathlon-Athletes-Quick-Selects-10-1000px.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After cycling to the Westover Park pool, assistant triathlon coach Chad Gusler led athletes through drills and warmup before a 100m time trial. A bike-to-run transition workshop followed by area triathlon coach and athlete Emily Sherrill.
