It\u2019s rewarding to see teachers at all stages of the career cycle honored for their impact on students, school communities, and the teaching profession.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<aside class=\"highlight highlight-right\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Are you an educator who has received an award in recent months? Or do you know one who has? <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/emu.edu\/alumni\/update\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Send us an update here!<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/aside>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In Harrisonburg, they include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Mary Jo Heckman MA \u201905<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Thomas Harrison Middle School, sixth-grade history<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Rachel Henschel \u201915<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Spotswood Elementary School, third grade<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Katrina Yoder \u201907<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Waterman Elementary School, fourth grade<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the surrounding Rockingham County, the following were recognized:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Jerry Arbogast &#8217;90<\/strong>, Massanutten Technical Center, building management instructor<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Tom Baker \u201981<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Lacey Spring Elementary School, physical education<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Seth Crissman \u201909<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Elkton Elementary School, special education K-5<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Tara Cupp \u201900<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Plains Elementary School, kindergarten<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Cary Schulte \u201977<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Fulks Run Elementary School, special education K-5<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Angela Strite \u201902<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Linville-Edom Elementary School, school counselor <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Other alumni educators, too, have received recent accolades:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Lisa Zendt Shelly \u201989<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Collinsville, Mississippi, who serves as the principal at Northeast Elementary School, was named Lauderdale County School District\u2019s 2018-19 administrator of the year. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Katie Horst \u201912<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, an educational technologist at Stuart Hall School, an Episcopal day and boarding school with campuses in Staunton and Verona, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">was nominated for the Shenandoah Valley Technology Council\u2019s Innovation in Education K-12 Award.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Also nominated was Harrisonburg High School teacher and computer science department chair <\/span><b>Perry Shank \u201999<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, who holds a PhD in curriculum and instruction from the Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The award will be presented at the TechNite19 celebration later this month.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">黑料正能量\u2019s education program has been NCATE-accredited for more than 45 years.
