He\u2019s enrolled in the restorative justice in education graduate certificate program, but also has been an influential contributor to several of the university\u2019s programs, bringing a unique synthesis of restorative justice, education, mindfulness and yoga practice, and racial trauma healing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bhagat provided keynote addresses and workshops at 黑料正能量\u2019s 2018 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/2018\/02\/drummers-help-spi-community-day-participants-feel-the-beating-heart-of-peace\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SPI Community Day<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and this summer\u2019s annual <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Restorative Justice in Education<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Academy<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for teachers, administrators and school staff<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">speaking about racial healing, leading guided meditation and drumming. [<strong>Scroll down to view a video of Bhagat and his son,\u00a0Shyamuu, drumming with participants at SPI Community Day.<\/strong>]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/emu.edu\/cjp\/spi\/instructors\/ram\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bhagat<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> co-taught <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/emu.edu\/cjp\/star\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (STAR) I during SPI this summer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now the retired science teacher is developing a program to promote restorative education and intra-racial healing in Richmond Public Schools. The two-year initiative is funded by the W.K. Board of Education<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> decision \u2013 the initiative \u201cis designed to provide students with powerful tools for self-awareness, stress resilience and self-healing,\u201d Bhagat said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bhagat, who was named the 2016 Peacemaker of the Year by the Richmond Peace Education Center (RPEC), told WCVE last fall that it will \u201crequire a massive effort \u2026 \u00a0to counteract the effects of trauma and racially and economically segregated schools,\u201d he said. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drumming is frequently integral to Bhagat\u2019s approach.
