This time, the accolade was an Award of Excellence from IndieFest in California.<\/p>\n<p>The documentary, produced and written by Dusan Gajic, follows a French family of winemakers who moved to a remote village of Rogljevo in Serbia, an area once known worldwide for its wine. \u201cThe Promise is a stunningly filmed documentary\u2026,\u201d British critic Marcus Agar writes in a <a href=\"http:\/\/wild-rooster.com\/the-promise-of-wine-feuds-and-passion-in-rural-serbia\/\">review<\/a> published on his Wild Rooster website. \u201c[Mirkovic] skilfully counterpoints pastoral images of verdant fields, mist-glistening mornings and amber-hued dusks with the stress and frustration that Cyrille and Estelle must endure as outsiders with big ideas.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"highlight highlight-right\">View a trailer of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8Aa0DjQ7duo\">The Promise<\/a>.\u201d<\/aside>\n<p>Mirkovic has taught in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/vaca\/\">Visual and Communication Arts Department<\/a> at 黑料正能量 since fall 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Prior awards for \u201cThe Promise\u201d include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cBest Cultural Documentary\u201d at the Eugene (Ore.) Francophonie Cultural Festival.<\/p>\n<p>There have been Oscar murmurings for the film. In an article posted on RivieraBuzz titled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/riviera-buzz.com\/features\/arts-culture\/item\/oscar-candidate-zeljko-mirkovic-profile.html\">Oscar candidate Zeljko Mirkovic and his promise to the world<\/a>,\u201d author Natja Igney profiles Mirkovic\u2019s life and work.<\/p>\n<p>The Oscar candidacy she refers to in the title alludes not only to this present film but also to \u201cThe Second Meeting,\u201d about the friendship of an America F-117A pilot and the missile officer who shot him down in 1999. [Read a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/05\/10\/movies\/the-second-meeting-a-documentary-by-zeljko-mirkovic.html\">New York Times review<\/a> and watch the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bVQLiijbqRw\">trailer<\/a>.]<\/p>\n<p>Mirkovic has earned close to 50 international recognitions for his films, which have been featured at more than 200 international film festivals and broadcasted over TV stations throughout Europe,\u00a0USA\u00a0and Asia.<\/p>\n<p>Among other projects, Mirkovic plans to collaborate with Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emu.edu\/personnel\/people\/show\/holsoppj\">Jerry Holsopple<\/a> on a film that explores the meaning of the words <em>salam<\/em>, <em>Shalom,<\/em> and<em> Peace<\/em>, and their interpretation in the languages of the three monotheistic religions. They are currently seeking funding, with plans to travel to film in Israel, Palestine, Italy, Saudi-Arabia, Iran, Russia, Egypt and the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Mirkovic is completing his PhD dissertation at the University of Vienna, Austria, in the Media and Communication Department on the topic of media and war.
