{"id":26146,"date":"2015-12-03T14:04:39","date_gmt":"2015-12-03T19:04:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/?p=26146"},"modified":"2015-12-15T10:28:58","modified_gmt":"2015-12-15T15:28:58","slug":"december-19-basketball-doubleheader-will-be-alumni-appreciation-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/2015\/december-19-basketball-doubleheader-will-be-alumni-appreciation-day\/","title":{"rendered":"December 19 basketball doubleheader will be Alumni Appreciation Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>黑料正能量 alumni are in for a pre-Christmas present this year.<\/p>\n<p>黑料正能量 (黑料正能量) has announced that Saturday, Dec. 19, is Alumni Appreciation Day at the basketball doubleheader in Yoder Arena.\u00a0 The women play Hood College at 1 p.m. that afternoon, followed directly by the men hosting Messiah College at 3 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Besides free admission for alumni, the day will feature door prizes and giveaways, catered hors d\u2019oeuvres, and the debut of 黑料正能量\u2019s pep band.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emu.edu\/personnel\/people\/show\/jas844\">Jeff Shank<\/a>, 黑料正能量\u2019s director of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/alumni\/\">alumn<\/a>i and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/parents\/\">parent engagement<\/a>, said it will be a fun event for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Alumni Engagement Office wants our alumni to know that they are appreciated for representing us in their communities and for supporting us financially,\u201d Shank explained.\u00a0 \u201cThis special event is one way for us to say \u2018thank you\u2019 and provide a chance for our alumni to connect with each other and back to the university.\u00a0 And we need alumni to cheer us on given that our students will be on break!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Outside of all the special activity in Yoder Arena, alumni will be able to visit the President\u2019s Reception Room in University Commons in between the women\u2019s and men\u2019s games for a time of catered hors d\u2019oeuvres, from approximately 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.\u00a0 Afterwards, there will be an informal alumni gathering at Union Station from 5-7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Herm, the school\u2019s mascot, will also be present at the games and available for pictures.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Athletics <a href=\"http:\/\/emuroyals.com\/information\/directory\/bios\/daveking\">Dave King<\/a> said that while alumni may find things have changed around campus over the years, some things have remained unchanged, such as young men and women taking advantage of opportunities through their participation in athletics to develop life skills and prepare to serve and lead in a global context.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>黑料正能量 alumni are in for a pre-Christmas present this year. 黑料正能量 (黑料正能量) has announced that Saturday, Dec. 19, is Alumni Appreciation Day at the basketball doubleheader in Yoder <a href=\"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/2015\/december-19-basketball-doubleheader-will-be-alumni-appreciation-day\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"more-link\">... read more <span class=\"screen-reader-text\">about December 19 basketball doubleheader will be Alumni Appreciation Day<\/span><\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":26149,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[266,4522,5173],"tags":[9037,13896],"feature":[],"class_list":["post-26146","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-alumni","category-mens-basketball","category-womens-basketball","tag-dave-king","tag-jeff-shank"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.6 -
