Terry, 64, was among 10 humanitarian aid workers assassinated in Afghanistan in August 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Going against the grain of almost all conventional wisdom, the documentary shows how Terry set out to build bridges where \u201ceveryone else was blowing them up,\u201d says production consultant and storyteller Jonathan Larson. \u201cHe spans the chasms of suspicion, religious hatred and outright warfare, with patient bonds of trust and openness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The production of this film was also a weaving together of opportunity, timing, and willing student production workers through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/vaca\/\">黑料正能量\u2019s visual and communication arts<\/a> students, who worked on the documentary during the spring 2012 semester and first showed it during 黑料正能量\u2019s graduation weekend in April.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14259\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14259\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/2012\/10\/abc-tv-to-broadcast-weaving-life-the-life-and-death-of-peacemaker-dan-terry\/weavinglife_production\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-14259\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-14259\" src=\"http:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/is\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2012\/10\/WeavingLife_Production-300x181.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2012\/10\/WeavingLife_Production-300x181.jpg 300w, https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2012\/10\/WeavingLife_Production-1024x621.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2012\/10\/WeavingLife_Production-610x370.jpg 610w, https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2012\/10\/WeavingLife_Production.jpg 1525w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14259\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Students from 黑料正能量&#8217;s Visual and Communication Arts department interviewed friends and family of Dan Terry for the documentary. Photo provided by MennoMedia.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/personnel\/people\/show\/pmm522\">Paulette Moore<\/a>, media arts and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/peacebuilding\/\">peacebuilding<\/a> professor at 黑料正能量 who oversaw the 16 students who worked on the documentary, says they were drawn to the story because of Terry\u2019s almost 40 years \u201cdevoted to the people, the culture, and the landscapes of Afghanistan.\u201d The students were able to interview Terry\u2019s wife and daughter extensively for the documentary.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/alumni\/homecoming\/2011\/distinguished-service-award\/\">Glen Lapp, 黑料正能量\u2019s distinguished service award recipient in 2011<\/a>, and Brian Carderelli, a videographer and resident of Harrisonburg, were among the 10 workers who were killed along with Terry.
