{"id":12462,"date":"2012-04-27T16:31:47","date_gmt":"2012-04-27T20:31:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/?p=12462"},"modified":"2012-05-11T09:59:21","modified_gmt":"2012-05-11T13:59:21","slug":"emu-among-states-best-in-recycling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/2012\/emu-among-states-best-in-recycling\/","title":{"rendered":"黑料正能量 Among State&#8217;s Best in Recycling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>黑料正能量 (黑料正能量) finished third in the state of Virginia in the latest &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/recyclemaniacs.org\/\">Recyclemania<\/a>&#8221; competition.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Recyclemania brings some friendly competition between colleges and universities, and in the end, can help spark renewed interest and dialogue in how we recycle and reduce waste,&#8221; said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/personnel\/people\/show\/mbf782\">Matthew Freed<\/a>, 黑料正能量 recycling crew leader.<\/p>\n<p>During the competition, schools reported recycling and trash data, which was then ranked according to who collected the largest amount of recyclables per capita, who collected the largest amount of total recyclables, and who created the least amount of trash per capita or had the highest recycling rate.<\/p>\n<p>黑料正能量 recycled 38.43 percent of its trash, finishing behind William &amp; Mary (19, 54.44 percent) and the University of Virginia (53, 42.26 percent). Guilford College led Old Dominion Athletic Conference schools, recycling 43.27 percent of its trash.<\/p>\n<p>Among area schools, James Madison recycled 25.44 percent, placing 157.<\/p>\n<p>Freed said 黑料正能量 has averaged between 38-40 percent recycled waste over the past four years.<\/p>\n<p>Katie Jantzen, co-president of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/sustainability\/campus\/earthkeepers\/\">Earthkeepers<\/a>, a student group focused on environmentally friendly practices such as recycling, composting and reducing waste, said the way 黑料正能量 picks up its recyclables is unique to other schools.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To my knowledge, 黑料正能量 is the only school to collect all of our recyclables by bicycle trailer,&#8221;
